Crowns
A crown is a restoration that is placed over the affected tooth to amend its shape, size or strength. They cap or completely cover a tooth and may be used for aesthetic or functional reasons.
Two types of crowns are used mostly:
- Metal bonded to porcelain crowns have been used for many years and are still utilized in most cases depending on the shade chosen. They consist of a Metal core with Porcelain baked around it. Metal is virtually invisible once crown is cemented in place.
- Zirconia All Ceramic crowns have ceramic core and contain no metal. They are also commonly used.
